Ingredients

Million Dollar Chicken Casserole
  • 3 cup cooked, shredded chicken
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.75 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1.5 cup crushed buttery round crackers
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped, for serving

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Prep and assemble
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter so nothing sticks.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth and lump-free.
  3. Fold in the shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until the mixture is evenly combined.
  4. Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish so it bakes in an even layer.
  5. Combine the crushed crackers with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly over the top for a crisp, golden finish.
Bake and serve
  1. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes, until the casserole is golden and bubbling around the edges.
  2. Let it rest briefly, then garnish with fresh chives before serving for a fresh green finish.

Notes

For best texture, use fully cooked chicken that’s shredded fairly fine so the filling stays creamy. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days; reheat in the oven at 350°F until warmed through. Freezing is not recommended due to the dairy-based texture. Dairy swap: replace cream cheese, sour cream, and cheddar with your preferred lactose-free versions for a similar creamy filling.
